Bring a Curious Quanta STEM Day to Your School
Students spend the day exploring science through real experiments — using genuine scientific apparatus, building working circuits, investigating light and optics, and solving hands-on problems. Every session is active, investigative and built around real scientific thinking.
All programs are developed and delivered by an experimental physicist. Sessions are age-appropriate across every year level from Year 1 to Year 6.
The Curious Quanta Approach
One Day. Different Ages. Real Science.
A Curious Quanta STEM Day brings hands-on science directly into your school. Students across different year levels work through age-appropriate activities — investigating, building, measuring and solving problems. Students do the science themselves, not watch demonstrations.
Programs are structured so each year level engages at the right depth — from foundational exploration in Years 1 and 2 through to structured investigation and problem solving in Years 5 and 6.
Hands-On Science
What Students Explore
Every session is built around real investigation. Students use scientific apparatus, handle equipment and work through problems — guided by an experimental physicist.
🔦
Light & Imaging
Students explore how light travels, bends and forms images using lenses, mirrors and optical equipment.
⚡
Circuits & Electronics
Students build and test circuits, learning how components control the flow of electricity through hands-on investigation.
📡
Sensors & Measurement
Students use sensors and measuring instruments to collect real data, compare results and draw conclusions.
📐
Arduino Lab — Code, Circuits & Control
Students develop spatial reasoning by working with coordinates, scale and three-dimensional structures.
Year Level Adaptations
Science That Meets Students Where They Are
A Curious Quanta STEM Day is designed to run across multiple year levels. Each session is adapted so the science is genuinely appropriate for where students are.
Years 1 & 2 and Years 3 & 4
Younger students explore scientific concepts through simple experiments, building and careful observation. Activities develop curiosity and scientific vocabulary at an appropriate pace.
Years 5 & 6
Older students investigate the same scientific ideas with greater rigour — making predictions, taking measurements and working through more complex problems. The science is harder; the apparatus is the same.
Because sessions are structured by year level, a STEM Day can bring the whole school into science without any group repeating another’s activity.
On the Day
How a Curious Quanta STEM Day Works
Each STEM Day is planned around the school — the year levels participating, the timetable and the spaces available. The program is shaped in consultation with the school so the day fits naturally into how the school works.
1. Setup
Dr Jacob arrives early to set up session stations before school begins. No input needed from staff.
2. Sessions
Year groups move through their dedicated session across the morning and afternoon. Each session runs approximately 45–60 minutes.
3. Facilitation
Every session is led by Dr Jacob. Teachers are welcome to observe or support, but no preparation is required.
4. Packdown
All equipment is packed and removed at the end of the day.
What We Bring
We Bring the STEM Lab to You
Schools do not need to own specialist science equipment to host a Curious Quanta STEM Day. Everything required for the program is brought to the school — so the focus stays on the students and the science.
Specialist Equipment & Materials
Dr Jacob brings all scientific apparatus, experimental components, building materials and consumables. Equipment is selected specifically for each year level and activity.
Activity Resources & Student Workbooks
Each student receives a detailed full-colour workbook designed for their year level — guiding them through the investigation and recording their observations.
From the moment Dr Jacob arrives, the school’s role is simply to provide the students and the space.
About the Program
Real Science, Thoughtfully Designed
Curious Quanta programs are developed and delivered by Dr Chamali Jacob — an experimental physicist and STEM educator with a genuine love of science and how it works. Every activity is built around the same principles that guide real scientific research: careful observation, honest experimentation and the satisfaction of working something out.
The goal isn’t to put on a show. It’s to give students a real experience of thinking scientifically — asking questions, testing ideas and making sense of what they find.
Complementing Classroom Learning
Science That Fits Into Your School’s Program
A Curious Quanta STEM Day is designed to complement classroom STEM learning, not replace it. Students get something they rarely experience in a standard lesson — the chance to explore scientific ideas physically, through real experiments, measurement and building.
Before the day, Dr Jacob is happy to discuss the program with the school. Activities and difficulty can be adjusted to connect with what students are already learning.
